A statement signed and issued by the university’s Registrar, Dr Emmanuel Adejoh, in Lokoja on Friday, said the appointments were with immediate effect.

The two new DVCs are Prof. Sunday Okpanachi (Professor of French) and Prof. Adebayo Williams (Professor of Law).

The registrar said the appointments were approved by the university’s Senate at its Regular Meeting held recently.

Adejoh said, “Prof. Sunday Okpanachi, a Director of Academic Planning is now Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration, while Prof. Adebayo Williams, Dean, College of Law is now Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics.

“The two DVCs were nominated by our Senate and subsequently approved by the council to meet the challenges of the University and of the society,” the registrar said.

He said the council expected a lot from the new DVCs in ensuring that the university was placed among the world’s best academic institutions.

According to Adejoh, the appointments were for a period of two years, renewable after the first tenure if they can prove their worth. NAN
