Alh. Chogudo Ahmed, Clerk of Kogi House of Assembly, on Friday felicitated with Gov. Yahaya Bello and residents on the 32nd anniversary of the creation of the state.
The clerk, in a statement in Lokoja by his deputy, Mr Aka Adbayo, expressed joy that the dreams of the founding fathers of Kogi were being daily realised during Bello’s administration.
Ahmed said Kogi had witnessed a lot of visible infrastructural and human developments in the last 32 years of its creation.
He averred that the dearths of infrastructural and human developments among others in the Igala, Egbira and Okun areas of old Benue and Kwara States led to the agitation for the creation of Kogi State 32 years ago.
“The good thing is that Kogi has been growing in leaps and bounds as it has recorded a lot of human and infrastructural developments especially during this administration of Bello.
“This is the more reason why I am today rejoicing with the governor for being the number one citizen of the state during this joyous anniversary.
“Equally, I rejoice with people of Kogi for finding themselves in a secured state free from kidnappers and criminals that used to torment the state in the past.
“My prayer is that God should grant our governor the enablement to bring in more developments and empowerments to the state despite the economic hardship Nigeria is experiencing as a result of subsidy removal, ” he prayed.
The head of legislative services, who observed that equity, fairness and justice which remained the hallmarks of democracy were being entrenched in the state now than ever before, urged the electorate to continue to repose confidence in the ruling All Progressives Congress( APC) governments at the Federal and state levels.
According to him, such confidence is necessary to usher in more dividends of democracy. NAN
