The Plateau Government on Wednesday pledged to boost the capacity of its healthcare system for effective service delivery to the people of the state.
Dr. Cletus Bako, the State Commissioner for Health, made the pledge during a tour of the Kanke and Langtang cottage hospitals, which had been upgraded to general hospitals.
Bako said that Gov. Caleb Mutfwang was enhancing the service delivery capacity of the primary, secondary and tertiary health care facilities in the state to meet the health needs of the people and attract medical tourism.
According to him, the state has already commenced the provision of modern health equipment, qualified and motivated health personnel, and an environment conducive for the healthcare system to thrive.
The commissioner charged the healthcare workers at the upgraded hospitals to ensure they discharged their duties proactively to adequately cater for the health needs of the people .
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of Kanke Local Government, Mr Shikir Caleb, commended the state government for prioritising the healthcare needs of the people.
Caleb assured the commissioner of his unwavering support towards the effective running of the general hospital in Kanke for the benefit of the citizens.
Similarly, Chairman of Langtang South Local Government, Manji Ponja, thanked the government for enabling the hospital commence full operations.NAN
