Ex-Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi on Thursday urged the grieving family of late Abubakar Umar Gegu to take solace in God over the demise of their father and guardian.
Bello, in a condolence message issued in Lokoja by his media Aide, Onogwu Muhammed, expressed profound sorrow at the passing of Gegu.
The former governor said that the irreplaceable loss was not only to the family or the community of Gegu-Beki but also to the entire state.
He said that late Gegu had held a significant position in the community and was notably the father of Engr Bashir Gegu, the Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals, who served diligently in the same ministry during his (Bello’s) administration.
Bello, who attended the Islamic burial rites conducted for the late Gegu in the Nyiwo, Gegu-Beki area of Kogi/Koton-Karfe Local Government on Thursday, described the departed community leader as a “man of profound wisdom.”
He acknowledged the enduring impact of Gegu’s guidance, attributing it to the developmental strides witnessed over the years.
The former governor further emphasized that the deceased served as a role model, leading a life aligned with the teachings of Islam, and urged the grieving family to find solace in the exemplary and dedicated life the late Gegu lived.
Bello, however, offered heartfelt prayers, beseeching Allah to grant the departed soul of Gegu Aljanatu Firdaus.
He expressed the hope that late Gegu’s legacy would continue to shine, and prayed his soul to rest in eternal peace. (ephemeralness.ng)
