Sen. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP-Kogi), Lawmaker representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, on Friday said empowering women will unlock their vast potential and talent for national development.

The only Kogi female lawmaker made the assertion in a statement issued by her Media Aide, Arogbonlo Israel, in commemoration of the 2024 International Women’s Day (IWD).

Akpoti-Uduaghan emphasised the importance of empowering women with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in leadership roles.

She urged women to take up more political positions and contribute to nation-building.

She and other distinguished colleagues, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, had on Thursday, celebrated International Women’s Day by unveiling a cake.

“We join Nigerian women to celebrate International Women’s Day.

“We pray for more women in politics and the Senate to contribute to nation-building; women are the bedrock of society,” said the Senate President during the unveiling.

The United Nations has designated the year 2024’s theme as ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress’ with a focus on addressing economic disempowerment.

The campaign theme for this year is ‘Inspire Inclusion.’ It highlights the significance of diversity and empowerment across all sectors of society. (ephemeralnews.ng)
