Gov. Usman Ododo of Kofi has beckoned on the positions in the State to join him in moving the state to greater heights.

Ododo made the call in a statement issued on Tuesday in Lokoja by his Media Aide, Ismaila Isah.

He said that join hands with him would no doubt ensure rapid development of the state in the interest of unity and peaceful coexistence of the people of the state.

The governor, who hailed the decision of the Kogi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which upheld his election as the duly elected Governor of the state, said the offering of an olive branch to the oppositions was very necessary.

He l, however, dedicated the victory at the tribunal to the people of the state.

“I want to emphatically dedicate my victory at the election petition tribunal to the good people Kogi.

“This is largely because the tribunal victory has further affirmed my conviction that God alone gives power to whomever He wishes at any point in life.

“To me, the ruling of the tribunal is a call for more dedication to the service of the people of Kogi,” he said.

Ododo commended President Bola Tinubu for ensuring the independence of the judiciary.

According to him, the courts remain the hope of the common man and bastion of justice, equity and fairness that sustain democracy any where in the world.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ododo was elected the fifth Executive Governor of Kogi on Nov. 11, 2023 having scored 446, 237 votes to defeat his closest challenger Muritala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) who scored 259, 052 votes.

Ajaka and candidates of the Action Alliance (AA) Olayinka Braimoh and Abdullahi Yunusa of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) subsequently challenged the election of Gov Ododo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in separate petitions before Kogi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja.

After months of intense legal battles, the tribunal sitting on Monday, affirmed Ododo of the APC as the duly elected governor of Kogi after dismissing the petitions of Ajaka of the SDP, Braimoh of AA and Yunusa of PRP for lack of merit. (ephemeralnews.ng)
