Sen. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP-Kogi) says a total of N27.5 million had been earmarked to register 2,500 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Kogi Central Senatorial District at the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) to boost their business.
Already the only Kogi female legislator has partnered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) for the registration exercise expected to kick staff soonest.
Natasha, in a statement issued by her Chief Press Secretary, Arogbonlo Israel, said the partnership was reached on Tuesday when the CAC officials led by the Head, CAC FCT Zonal Office, Mr Bello Muftau Esq met with the lawmaker at her office in the National Assembly, Abuja.
The lawmaker was quoted to have said that the step was all in a bid to boost economic growth and development in Kogi central senatorial district.
She explained that the registration, which would be done on the spot, would be offered at a rate of N11,000 each.
According to her, the partnership aims to support small business owners in meeting the government’s registration requirements and to promote business growth and development in the region.
“The registration drive is expected to commence soon, with a special conference planned to bring together key players in the business ecosystem to forge synergy and collaboration.
“I also hope to organise a special conference to bring together the key players in the business ecosystem to forge synergy and collaboration towards business growth and development like regulatory bodies, Bank of Industry, and others.
“I hereby urge CAC to strengthen its education and sensitization efforts to inform business owners about the importance of registration and the benefits of compliance” she advised.
Responding, the CAC team, led by Mr Bello Muftau Esq, described the partnership as a significant step towards promoting the ease of doing business in Nigeria, in line with the Commission’s mandate under the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020
Muftau said that the commission has put some measures in place to promote the ease of doing business through simplification of the registration process, reduction of registration costs, reduction of costs, sensitisation, improvement of digital infrastructure, and incentives for business registration.
