Plateau Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mr Bashir Datti, says Gov. Caleb Mutfwang-led state government is committed to creating an environment that supports youth development, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Datti, who stated this in his message to mark International Youth Day, said that young people have boundless potential and contributions to make Plateau great.
The commissioner, who is also Chairman of the Nigeria Forum of Youth and Sports Development Commissioners, described youths as innovators and change-makers.
He stated that Mutfwang recognised the centrality of youth in socioeconomic development and appointed many of them into the state executive council.
Datti added that the appointments were a recognition of the fact that the youth drive positive change with their energy and creativity, shaping a better future.
According to him, the state government created myriads of opportunities for youths in agriculture, information and communication technologies, and other areas to thrive.
“International Youth Day, observed annually on August 12th since 2000, recognises the efforts of young people in enhancing global society.
“This year’s theme, “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development,” highlights the vital role of digital technologies in empowering young people to drive positive change and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“To our dear youths, I urge you to explore opportunities, build on your potential, and become self-reliant and harness digital tools to create positive impacts and contribute to the attainment of the SDGs.
“I pledge my commitment to supporting youth-led initiatives and programmes that promote digital literacy, skills development, and empowerment,” he added. NAN
