Ododo Visits Burnt GSM Village, Pledges Support To Businesses

Gov. Usman Ododo of Kogi has visited and comforted traders whose shops were destroyed by an early morning fire at the Lokoja GSM village recently.

In a statement by his media aide, Ismaila Isah, Ododo described the incident as “unfortunate” and “worrisome”.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s support for businesses and pledged the state government’s assistance in rebuilding the GSM village ravaged by fire.

“The governor has visited the scene for an on-the-spot assessment and sympathised with the victims.

“He also promised to support business owners and victims to recover from the setback, acknowledging the GSM village’s positive impact on the state’s economy and its provision of a legitimate source of living for several youths and women.

“He also assured market operators of immediate relief measures and plans for rebuilding and recovery of affected property.”

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the fire, triggered by an electrical spark, consumed the entire GSM village, resulting in the loss of property worth millions of naira. NAN
