Sen. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP-Kogi), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Local Content, has facilitated a five-day entrepreneurial skill acquisition training programme for 60 youths in Kogi Central Senatorial District.
The programme, conducted under the Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, focused on solar street light and solar component installation, as well as phone and handset repair.
At the training on Tuesday in Kogi, Akpoti-Uduaghan emphasised her commitment to deliver tangible democratic dividends to her constituents.
She noted that the initiative aimed to create job opportunities and tackle unemployment.
“Graduates should strive to become employers, not just job seekers. This workshop is just the start.
“Utilise technology, expand your skills, and make yourself valuable.
“Embrace post-training, proactively brand and market yourselves.
“I appreciate the Presidency, Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, my party members, and team for their support.
“Welcome to Ebiraland, where hospitality and integration with Nigeria are valued. We’re peace-loving people,” she said.
Akpoti-Uduaghan encouraged the trainees to become exemplary ambassadors wherever they go.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that upon completing the training, participants received certificates, comprehensive tool kits to support their newfound skills, and a ₦150,000 start-up fund.
Additionally, they were provided with protective kits.
The training was facilitated by a team led by Mr Edmund Ana-Bisong, which included Paul Eze, Miracle Ikechukwu-Nwawuru, and Mr Asuquo Bassey, among others. NAN
