The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Benue Command on Tuesday, paraded two persons, Peter Iorlumun and Tileshima Kine for alleged illegal possession of firearms.
The Command Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr Michael Ejelikwu said that Iorlumun was arrested at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Ikyogen in Kwande Local Government Area on Dec 22, 2024.
Ejelikwu said the suspects were arrested by the Agro Ranger Squad Stationed at Kwande Local Government Area to provide Security around the church during a thanksgiving mass organized by the Ikyurav-ya Community in honour of their two illustrious sons, Mr Moses Ternenge and Mr Vitalis Neji.
“As a result of the marching orders, on the Dec. 2, 2024 Men of the Agro Ranger Squad intercepted and arrested one Iorlumun Peter aka Photos, male (28 years old) of Mbaagwa Village, Liev ll Council Ward during a search operation after a credible intelligence”, the PRO explained.
He said a cartoon colour shuttle bag containing a Pistol and a lighter were found in Peter’s possession during the time of arrest.
According to him, Iorlumun’s confessional statements upon interrogation led to the arrest of a second suspect, Kine on Dec 23, 2024.
He said further investigation is still in progress to nab their collaborators.
The PRO commended Gov Hyacinth Alia for his support for security agencies in the state which has encouraged them to do more so as to ensure that Benue people could go to bed with their two eyes closed.
He also commended the synergy among security agencies which has made it impossible for criminals to go scot free.
Ejelikwu said that the suspects would be accordingly prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others. NAN
