Benue Varsity Appoints Unum as Facility Manager

Prof. Tor Iorapuu, Vice Chancellor (VC), Benue State University, Makurdi (BSU), has appointed Mr Joseph Unum as Facility Manager of the university.

The letter of appointment was signed by BSU Registrar Mr Barnabas Hemba and sighted by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Makurdi.

According to Hemba, as facility manager, Unum would monitor and oversee facilities within and outside the university campus and report to the VC on their status.

Hemba said that as a quantity surveyor, the facility manager was also expected to liaise with the Physical Planning Unit in the discharge of his responsibilities.

The registrar said the appointment, which takes immediate effect, was in line with the university’s commitment to ensuring efficient management and maintenance of its physical infrastructure and facilities.

The VC expressed confidence in Unum’s ability to deliver and described him as a thorough professional whose track record of excellence and dedication would contribute positively to the ongoing transformation at the university.

“Mr Unum brings a wealth of experience to the position, having served as the Coordinator of the Physical Planning Unit at the university between 2021 and 2024.

“His expertise in planning, supervising and maintaining large-scale infrastructural projects is expected to significantly enhance the university’s drive towards improved service delivery and a conducive learning environment.’’

Unum holds a Bachelor of Technology Degree in Quantity Surveying from Federal University of Technology, Minna.

He is a member of many professional bodies, including the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors and the International Association of Project Managers. NAN
