NYSC deploys 1600 corps members to Benue

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has deployed 1600 corps members to Benue for their national service as 2025 Batch A Stream 1.
The NYSC state Coordinator, Mrs Veronica Garba, made the disclosure durinformedcorps members wearing in ceremony on Friday in Wanune in Tarka Local Government Area of Benue State.
Garba told the corps members that the orientation programme was generally packaged to enrich them with new techniques in the approach of different spheres of life.
The coordinator enjoined them to make the best out of the golden opportunity provided by the Federal Government by taking every aspect of the NYSC training programme seriously.
She said the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) which would be introduced to them in the course of the orientation is one of the highly beneficial programmes put together by NYSC to eradicate joblessness, considering the unending scarcity of white collar jobs in Nigeria.
“The SAED programme will in no small measure enhance your chances of excelling during and after the Service year.
“I urge you to embrace the programme with all seriousness and commitment with a view to become self employed and employers of labour after your service year”, Garba advised.
Garba further advised the corps members to restrict themselves to the positive use of the social media, especially for the promotion of unity rather than hatred.
The Coordinator commended Gov Hyacinth Alia of Benue for his love and unflinching support for the scheme since the inception of his administration.
She informed the governor that his support and love has encouraged the corps members to remain in the state after camping instead of seeking for relocation as it used to be.
The Coordinator also noted that the governor’s support had cushioned the effect of hardship on corps members serving in the state and improved their performances in their various places of primary assignmens.
In a keynote address to declare the orientation open, Alia assured the corps members that their security was guaranteed all through their stay in the state.
Represented by the Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Mr Terkimbi Ikyange, Alia said that his administration is in conjunction with all security agencies in the state to ensure the safety of all places and residential areas of corps members.
“It is logical that finding yourselves in a strange land would create all sorts of doubt and fear but I want to assure you that, being in Benue is just home away from home”, the governor assured.
