A’Ibom Police Command Investigates Alleged Girlfriend Murder

The A’Ibom Police Command says investigation has commenced in earnest over case of alleged killing of a Girlfriend by her Boyfriend in the State.

The Girlfriend, Ruth Sunday, was reportedly found lifeless in pool of her blood, while her boyfriend, whose identity is yet to be confirmed, was found in a critical condition, gasping for breathe by Police officers, who responded to a distressed call.

In a statement signed by the Command’s Spokesman, DSP Timfon John, on Wednesday in Uyo.

John explained that boyfriend was immediately rushed along with girlfriend to Hospital for medical attention, where she was confirmed dead and he, the boyfriend was admitted.

According to him, at approximately 10:15am of May 6, 2025, the Operative of the Command received information regarding a violent altercation at Qua River Quarters, Eket.

“Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered a female, later identified as Ruth Ngozi Sunday, and her cohabiting boyfriend lying on the floor in a pool of blood.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the couple engaged in a fatal fight involving a kitchen knife, resulting in both individuals sustaining stab wounds. The cause of the altercation is currently unknown, ” he said.

The spokesman said that the suspected murder weapon has been recovered by the police.

He said while investigation into the matter has commenced, efforts were underway to locate the relatives of the boyfriend, while the family of the deceased (girlfriend) has been contacted. (ephemeralnews.com.ng)
