Sen. Ita Enang of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged Akwa Ibom people to expect more developmental projects in the State with the movement of Gov Umo Eno into the APC as the party that controls the centre.

Enang said this while speaking with newsmen in Uyo on Sunday in his reaction to the dumping of People’s  Democratic Party (PDP) by Eno to join APC on Friday, June 6.

He noted that there was jubilation in the streets of Akwa Ibom due to the movement of the governor to the progressives party.

Enang, who is the former Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly (Senate) and Niger Delta Affairs said with the linking of Akwa Ibom with the party at the federal, the state will definitely gained much.

He reminded the people the development in the state between 1999 and 2015 when the state was under PDP and the federal government was also PDP.

All Akwa Ibom people are celebrating that the Government and Governor of Akwa Ibom State has linked to the centre.

“All my struggles since 2015 was how to make Akwa Ibom linked up to the Federal Government, because if you are in the minority party like when Akwa Ibom was.

“Our efforts have been how to make the state join the party at the centre.

“You saw the level of development when we had Obong Victor Attah as the governor and PDP at the state and PDP at the federal. That was when onshore/offshore dichotomy was abolished.

“We saw progress during Gov. Godswill Akpabio when it was PDP at the state and the federal.

“For me, i saw in advance that PDP was winding down in 2014/2015 and I moved because I did not want to be in the minority party. I left to APC freely.

“Then i was a lone voice in APC and we tried to work together with Gov Udom Emmanuel then, but he was not cooperating.

“This why am saying this the best time in all my struggles to make Akwa Ibom state linked up with the federal government.

“Be in the same party that the President is and that is why I am happy that my dream seems fufilled,” Enang said.

Enang assured the governor and all those that joined the APC with him that all agreements and understanding reached with the party would be honoured.

He urged all the old members of APC in the state to remain calm and not be afraid as all interest would be accommodated.

He added that APC is more solid and resolved to ensure victory of the party in 2027 both in the state and federal governments, stressing that the essence was to build a bigger, stronger party.
