AVM Paul Ifanga, Air Officer Commanding (AOC), Air Training Command Kaduna, has tasked 88 newly trained intelligence officers of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) with innovation and professionalism in tackling insecurity.
Ifanga gave the charge on Friday in Makurdi at the graduation of Intelligence Supervisors Course 9/2026, Document Security Course 14/2026 and Full Motion Video Analysis Course 1/2026.
The AOC, who was the special guest of honour at the combined graduation and was represented by Air Commodore Ali Idris, Chief of Staff, Headquarters, Tactical Air Command, charged the trainees to uphold the knowledge acquired in the discharge of their responsibilities.
He said NAF relies on the provision of timely, accurate and actionable intelligence as regards adversary intentions and capabilities for the conduct of its operations.
Ifanga, therefore, said that the responsibilities bestowed upon graduates as operations, security and administrative personnel were enormous.
“It is your duty to safeguard NAF assets by gathering actionable intelligence which would aid operations planning and decision-making while also ensuring that official documents and information are adequately safeguarded from unauthorised disclosures at all times.
“Considering that we live in a dynamic global security environment, the challenges in the field of intelligence and security are enormous and continue to evolve.
“The complexities of these challenges require innovative approaches to effectively address and counter the emerging threats.
“It is my belief that having completed this course, you have been adequately equipped and will operate as consummate professionals, reflecting the experience, knowledge, and skills acquired during training.
“This would no doubt require your unwavering dedication, exemplary conduct, discipline, and loyalty to the service as well as our dear nation,” he urged.
According to him, the rigorous nature of the training they received demands that they not only justify their selection to attend the course but also strive for continuous self-improvement in all aspects of material, personnel, and information management.
The AOC lauded the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, for his unwavering support and commitment to sustaining critical airpower capabilities within the Nigerian Air Force, of which intelligence plays a pivotal role.
Group Capt. Michael Ikuenayo, Commandant, Nigerian Air Force School of Air Intelligence (NAFSAINT), Makurdi, said that the graduating students embarked on the remarkable journey on 18 May and 17 June 2026, respectively.
Ikuenayo stated that the courses commenced with 38 students for the Intelligence Supervisors’ Course, 26 students for the Document Security Course and 25 students for the Full Motion Video Analysis Course.
“The Intelligence Supervisors Course is an 8-week course aimed at introducing Senior Non-commissioned Officers (SNCOs) to an in-depth aspect of intelligence analysis, intelligence production and the management of intelligence products.
“The course focused on 6 critical phases which include geopolitics, general service knowledge, security, operational intelligence, technical intelligence, among other areas of focus.
“The Document Security Course is an 8-week course aimed at sensitising chief clerks, personal assistants and confidential secretaries to various threats to classified documents and information.
“The course equally equipped them with requisite skills to identify, protect and prevent unauthorised access to classified documents and information, among other areas.
“The Full Motion Video Analysis Course is a 4-week course designed to equip young intelligence officers and Non Commissioned Officers (NCOs) with a working understanding of full motion video interpretation, analysis and dissemination,” he added.
