Dr Suberu Yusuf-John, Special Adviser (SA) to Gov. Ahmed Ododo on Road Safety Matters, has pledged to do more on strategic moves and activities toward saving more lives on the highways in Kogi.
Yusuf-John made the pledge while speaking to newsmen on Thursday in Lokoja on his achievements in the past one as Ododo’s Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Road Safety.
The governor’s aide expressed satisfaction with the support and cooperation he enjoyed from Gov. Ododo and FRSC Personnel, which brought about tremendous results in the rescue and safety of the lives of accident victims on the roads in the state.
“My success story in the past one year as SSA to our workaholic Gov Ahmed Ododo on road safety endeared him to promote me to the position of his Special Adviser on road safety matters.
“I can say that the feat within one year is sequel to my dedication, proactive
leadership, and innovative contributions to road safety management alongside the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) personnel in the state.
“During the year under review, July 8, 2025 – July 8, 2026, I have cause to follow FRSC personnel at accidents spots, sensitisation/enlightenment campaigns in schools, mosques, Churches, motor parks and communities to safe lives, ” he said.
The SA noted that before then, he had initiated many programmes, including
a stakeholders’ meeting convened at the Government House, Lokoja, to address concerns surrounding the ongoing federal road construction
project in Zariagi Community and strengthen peaceful relations between the host community and CGC Nigeria Limited in the interest of Kogi State.
He added, “I took my personal arranged road safety sensitisation campaigns to various churches and mosques, motor parks and schools within the state..
“This is because I hate to see one life loss to any road traffic crash. That’s the spirit I want all stakeholders and well-meaning Nigerians to have, more so that road safety is the business of all of everybody.”
He said only recently he organised a Strategic Stakeholders’ Conference, which informed the commitment of all stakeholders to work collectively towards creating a safer road environment in Kogi State.
According to him, participants pledged to deepen collaboration, strengthen institutional partnerships, support continuous public enlightenment, and promote strict compliance with road traffic regulations.
“The Strategic Stakeholders’ Conference on Road Safety 2026 marked a significant milestone in celebrating my one year of impactful leadership in advancing road safety in Kogi.
“Through meaningful dialogue, strategic partnerships, the investiture of Gov. Ahmed Ododo as Patron of the FRSC Special Marshals, the donation of 10 Electric Motorcycles to the FRSC, and award of honours to diverse deserving partners, brought me fulfilment.
“My joy is the visit of FRSC Corps Marshall, Shehu Mohammed to Kogi as an honour to the governor, and my promotion to SA. It has encouraged and strengthened me to do more for the state in saving more lives on kogi roads, ” he said.
