The  Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Command in Kogi has deployed 925 officers, 23 patrol vehicles and three ambulances to safeguard highways as Muslims celebrate Eid-el-Fitr.

Corps Commander, Stephen Dawulung, in a statement on Thursday in Lokoja, warned motorists against reckless and drunk driving during the period.

The FRSC commander said that Special Patrol Operations had begun ahead of the festivities.

“The operations shall see more attention paid to critical road corridors within the state.

“Our objective is to ensure the reduction of road traffic crashes, fatalities and injuries; we shall also ensure prompt rescue of crash victims.

“Some of the strategies of the special patrol include robust public enlightenment, sanctioning offenders, clearance of obstructions and traffic control where build ups are experienced,” he explained.

Dawulung advised motorists to always adhere to road traffic regulations, exhibit the highest level of discipline and avoid  unwholesome practices that could jeopardise their safety and that of other road users. NAN
