Gov. Usman Ododo of Kogi on Tuesday commended security operatives for the rescue of 43 travellers in the state, who were recently abducted in neighbouring Edo state.

The governor, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, in Lokoja, described the feat as apt and tactical.

“This successful rescue of the abducted bus passengers in Okehi Local Government Area of the state is a welcome development.

“I wish to call for sustained collaboration between security agencies and local communities to improve intelligence gathering and prevent crime and criminality in all parts of the state.

“This is because there is no place for criminal elements in Kogi, ” he said

He commended the Caretaker Chairman of Okehi Local Government Area, Mr Amoka Eneji, the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Professional Hunters, Ebira Local Hunters Group and other security agencies for their intervention that led to the rescue of the abducted travellers.

The governor also lauded security agencies for their quick response to a recent armed robbery incident in the Felele area of Lokoja.

Ododo, however, urged the security agencies to be more proactive in addressing insecurity in all parts of the state.

He gave assurances that his administration would continue to support security agencies maximally in order to ensure that all communities in the state remain unsafe for criminal elements. NAN
