Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau is training 20 youths on renewable energy to help address the energy needs of the area.
Mr Fidelis Adara, Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of Bassa LG, made the disclosure during Grassroots Governance Engagement organised by the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON).
Adara said that the trainees would work with experts to ensure that the area has sufficient energy for socio-economic development.
The chairman said that, in spite of the security challenges, his administration rehabilitated the Barracks Junction Road that links the local government secretariat.
He said that the council renovated eight-man quarters for directors, constructed a paremeter fence around the quarters, and renovated the chairman’s official quarters.
“We constructed three culverts along Jebbu-First Bank Road, purchased three 500KVA transformers, renovated Area Court Jebbu Bassa, and renovated Primary Health Clinic Kwasha.
“We constructed bridges at Kasachan and Hukke villages and rehabilitated boreholes across the local government,” he said.
The chairman said that the local government was working closely with security agencies to ensure that peace reigns in the area.
He stated that the Bassa people were mainly farmers and were ready to return to their farms. NAN
