The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has urged Nigerian youths to embrace dialogue rather than the planned 10 days protest.

The State Director of NOA Plateau, Mrs Kaneng Pam -Hworo, gave the urge in a statement on Wednesday in Jos, while appealing to the youths in Plateau to shelve the planned nationwide protest slated for August 1- 10.

Pam-Hworo, proposed dialogue as the path to peace and a means of engaging the government over their grievances.

“The National Orientation Agency believes that while peaceful assembly and expression of viewpoints are fundamental rights, the upcoming protest poses significant concerns that must be addressed.

The Agency respects the right to protest and the importance of freedom of speech and expression; however, information gathered from the seventeen Local Government Areas of the state reveals serious concerns about the potential disruptions, safety risks, and misinformation that could arise from this proposed protest” She said.

She urged the Plateau youths to consider the economic and other negative impacts that could be birthed due to the protest.

” The government is intensifying its efforts to engage in constructive dialogue to address the concerns of the youths more effectively and in good time.

“We encourage everybody to come together in a spirit of cooperation and mutual respect. by working collaboratively, we can find solutions that address concerns without causing undue harm to our State and country at large,” she said. NAN
