Ajaokuta (Kogi) May 28, 2025 (NAN) Mr Miller Dantawaye, Commissioner of Police in Kogi, met with industrial players and community leaders in Ajaokuta, Lokoja, to strengthen security through proactive measures.
The CP in a statement on Wednesday by the Command’s spokesman, SP Williams Ovye-Aya, said the meeting aimed to foster stakeholder collaboration and reinforce police presence in strategic sectors.
Dantawaye, during his familiarisation tour of the Ajaokuta Area Command, visited West Africa Ceramics, stressing the importance of synergy for sustainable security and economic growth.
He was received by the management, led by Mr A.A Bello, who appreciated the visit and praised police support during a 2022 foiled kidnapping attempt.
The CP also toured BN Ceramics, where Mr H. James applauded the partnership with the Area Command and the on-site Mobile Police Unit.
James commended the police for rapid emergency responses and routine patrols, which serve as deterrents to crime around the factory and residential zones.
Both companies, however, raised concerns about increasing fraud, impersonation, and the circulation of counterfeit ceramic products within the market.
In response, the CP pledged thorough investigation and prosecution of such offences, assuring that no legitimate complaint would be overlooked by the Command.
Dantawaye urged ongoing intelligence-sharing, noting that protecting lives, property, and investments demands consistent cooperation between businesses and security agencies.
He described as productive his engagements with community stakeholders, traditional rulers, and heads of security agencies in Itobe, Adogo, and Ajaokuta.
He emphasised that effective security is achieved when communities and law enforcement work together like family, built on trust and mutual respect.
Dantawaye added that all agencies, including vigilantes and hunters, play key roles in a united front against criminality in the region.
He encouraged residents to remain vigilant and report any misconduct by criminals or police officers without fear or favour.
He warned that mob justice is not acceptable and undermines law and order. The police will act against impunity from any source.
The CP assured that all officers under his command have his full support to respond quickly and professionally to any security issue.
Alh. Saliu Ocholi, District Head of Itobe, thanked the Police, especially the Area Command, for maintaining peace in the community.
The traditional ruler commended their presence, swift actions, and dedication to ensuring continued safety for the residents of Itobe. NAN
