Kogi Police cammand arrests 82 suspects in 2 months – CP

Kogi Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Kankarofi has said that the synergy between Kogi Government and security operatives has led to the arrest of 82 suspects between November and December 2925.

Kankarofi made the disclosure in his New Year greetings to the people of Kogi signed by the command’s spokesperson, CSP William Ovye-Aya in Lokoja on Thursday.

The CP prayed for peace, progress, and prosperity for individuals, families, and communities across the state in the coming year 2026.

He described the new year as a period of renewed hope, unity, and collective responsibility, and assured residents that the Command remains fully committed to the protection of lives and property throughout the State.

He emphasized that ensuring a safe and secure environment for all remains a top priority of the kogi command.

The CP said, “Our joint efforts yielded remarkable results in November-December 2025 with the
arrest of 82 suspects involved in various crimes.”

He said that out of the 82 suspects 42 are kidnappers, 22 armed robbers, 9 homicide, 5 for unlawful possession of firearms and, four involved in rape cases.

According to him, the synergy successfully rescued 102 victims of kidnapping and other crimes, foiled criminal plots and preventing untold harm to our communities.

The CP further disclosed that arms recovered include: 3 AK-47 rifles, 1 AK-49 rifle, 22 dane guns, 3 locally made pistols, 5 rounds of live ammunition, and cartridges.

He commended the Inspector General of Police (I-G), Kayode Egbetokun, for his exemplary leadership style in moving the Nigeria Police Force forward.

He noted that the IGP’s commitment to enhanced policing through community policing initiatives has been tremendous in the ongoing onslaught against criminality in the State.

The CP further commended the Executive Governor of Kogi, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo, for his continued support and encouragement to the command.

“Your excellency’s unwavering commitment and support have been tremendous, leading to the current achievements recorded by the command.

“I wish to thank the heads of other security agencies in the state for the level of synergy and support leading to the results the command has achieved.

“I hereby urge for sustained synergy and collaboration in the year 2026, ” he pleaded.

He also commended the officers of the command for their dedication and commitment with utmost professionalism, which made the command achieve those results.

“As we step into 2026, I urge everyone to remain vigilant and security conscious. Report anything suspicious to the nearest police station.

“Together, let’s make Kogi the safest state in Nigeria as your continued support is crucial to our success, ” he said.

The Commissioner further urged parents, guardians, traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, and other stakeholders to continue to play active roles in promoting peaceful coexistence and discouraging all forms of criminality, especially during the new year period.

Kankarofi reassured the public that the state police command remains steadfast in upholding professionalism, discipline, and respect for human rights, while continuously strengthening strategies to address emerging security challenges and ensure a peaceful new tear for all residents.
