In a heartwarming gesture of service and community upliftment, Chief Dr. Moses Nwan, mni, Executive Private Secretary to the Governor of Plateau State and National President of the College of Education Gindiri Alumni Association (CEGAA), marked Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang’s second year in office by empowering underprivileged members of his hometown in Pushit Ward, Mangu Local Government Area.
The empowerment initiative, held on June 4, 2025, in Pushit, included the distribution of fertilizer and cash donations to carefully selected beneficiaries across the 28 units of Pushit, with a focus on widows and people with disabilities. The intervention aims to support the ongoing agricultural season and complement the Governor’s broader efforts to boost food production across Plateau State.
According to Chief Dr. Moses Nwan, the initiative is part of his ongoing efforts to reach out to the less privileged and vulnerable. “I have been doing this even before the coming of this administration,” he said. “The fertilizer distribution and cash donations empowerment is to celebrate the 2 years of productive governance of the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, and to augment what the Governor is doing in terms of agricultural empowerment that will boost food production in the state.”
Chief Dr. Nwan commended Governor Mutfwang’s leadership, saying, “Governor Mutfwang has done so much in the state, and he’s a game-changer that’s moving Plateau State to a greater height. Working with him has given me the opportunity to see into his vision of a greater Plateau.”
The keynote speaker, Barr. Mrs. Olivia Dazyam, Chairperson of the Plateau State Gender and Equal Opportunities Commission, commended Governor Mutfwang’s initiative on gender equality issues. She stated that the bill was passed into law in 2015, but the previous administration neglected it. “However, with the coming on board of Governor Mutfwang, he immediately looked into the law and implemented it by opening the commission which I’m heading,” she said.
Barr. Mrs. Dazyam also commended Chief Dr. Moses Nwan for empowering the less privileged, vulnerable, and people living with disabilities with fertilizers and cash donations. “I encourage the beneficiaries to take advantage of the empowerment to boost food production in the state, as His Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang wants Plateau to take the lead in food production,” she said.
The Liaison Officer of Mangu North, Hon. Sani Abubakar Golden, appreciated Chief Dr. Moses Nwan’s vision of empowerment, saying, “The intervention will impact positively on the lives of the people, as the fertilizers and cash donations will aid them in this year’s farming season, which in turn will bring bumper harvest.”
Hon. Golden also commended Governor Mutfwang’s proactive measures in terms of security, which has restored peace back to Pushit and its environs. He rolled out some of his achievements, including empowering youths and women, donating over 300 wrappers to women with cash donations, and advocating for road construction linking Pushit to Gindiri.
The Mishkaham Pushit, Da. Diner Gupiya, thanked Chief Dr. Moses Nwan for the impactful empowerment he has been doing for the people. “His intervention on the fertilizer and cash donations is on a measurable scale,” he said. “The people are happy because they now have fertilizers to farm with, and with the monetary donations, it’s like he has done virtually everything for them.”
The event drew a host of dignitaries and government officials, all united in celebrating both the Governor’s milestone and Dr. Nwan’s deep commitment to community development. The grateful beneficiaries praised the timely support, describing it as a lifeline during a difficult farming season. In their words of appreciation, they offered prayers for the continued success of Governor Mutfwang’s administration and pledged their support for his re-election in 2027.
Goodwill messages were delivered by prominent personalities, including Barr. Mrs. Olivia Dazyam, Hon. Alhaji Sani Idris Shilak, Tafidan Panyam and Fagacin Gindiri, and the Mangu North East Liaison Officer to the Governor, and Hon. Matthew Datong, PDP Chairman for Mangu LGA, among others.
In addition to the empowerment program, the event also served as a platform to extend best wishes to Dr. Nwan’s son, Panshak, and his bride-to-be, Esther, ahead of their wedding taking place on Saturday, June 7, 2025, in Jos. The atmosphere was filled with joy, generosity, and optimism, reflecting a shared commitment to building a greener and more prosperous Plateau State.
